Phoenicians’ Route welcomes as an official member the Foundation for United Nations SDG (FFUN-SDG), Kiev (Ukraina).
Phoenicians’ Route is one of the certified Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe since 2003. The theme of the Route is the intercultural dialogue based on the ancient civilizations between 1200 BC. and the Roman Empire. Following the examples of history, we can understand more about our time.
Antonio Barone, Director of the Phoenicians’ Route, says: “Through the involvement of FFUN SDG as new member, the Phoenicians’ Route open a new workspace and wants to give a message of solidarity, support and cooperation to the people who are currently experiencing a dramatic period in their history. First step of this collaboration with the FFUN SDG within the Phoenicians’ Route is to cooperate in order to create links, opportunities for the refugees, exhibitions on Ukrainian culture and heritage, and training, capacity building and mentoring project for young people from Ukraine and Moldova, in the field of enhancement of heritage, innovative tourism, enhancement of local food, wine and handicraft products, European project planning, in partnership with Iter Vitis Route. This action to support the future of the Ukrainian people and to enhance the identity and uniqueness of this nation”.
Many ancient civilizations lived in Ukraine since XI century BC.: Cimmerians, Scythians, Sarmatians, others. Many ancient archaeological places tell us about this period and the ancient history of Ukraine. The cultural landscapes of this wonderful country help us to know more and to share this heritage.
