The FFUN SDG, a member of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs—Sustainable Development, is honoured to coordinate "Opera Creonte" by Dmytro Bortnyansky, a Ukrainian-Italian-Portuguese project that brings a forgotten masterpiece back to life.
Premiered for the first time in Italy (1776) and rediscovered in Portugal, Creonte, composed by the great Ukrainian musician Dmytro Bortnyansky, embodies European cultural unity and symbolizes resilience, diplomacy, and cooperation, particularly as Ukraine continues to protect its heritage despite the terrible aggression that some persist in shamelessly denying.
At this delicate moment for the entire world, especially for Europe, which is facing an unprecedented test of solidarity and unity, this opera aims to be an example of how music and art can serve as a vehicle for harmony and connection among people who cherish peace and coexistence.
This initiative, led by Herman Makarenko, UNESCO Artist for Peace, is supported by the UNESCO National Commission of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, with performances scheduled in:
Kyiv 2024 | Bologna 2025 | Venice 2026 | Portugal 2027, with further performances in other countries.
Under the patronage of UNESCO, we invite everyone to follow us on this journey of art, unity, and cultural exchange. Contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots.
